The Pirate King and notoriety

Notoriety is earned by plundering traders and fighting other captains. It is lost only while you are at sea (never in port, never ashore), about one percent a minute, so a notorious captain has to keep sailing to keep a name.

The captain with the highest notoriety in the whole world is the Pirate King. The crown shows in red above their name and at the top of their right-click menu, and brings: +5% rowing speed, +2.5% sailing speed, +40% plunder (gold and cargo from sunk ships) and notoriety that fades half as fast. Anyone can take it: out-do the King.

The Agency's Ten Most Wanted board in the Holding garden lists the top ten by notoriety, with the price on their heads.
